Love it up with Slow D.K. and friends on the Basement Tapes!

Lance Parker Sanning AKA Slow D.K.

We just can’t seem to stem the flow of good music coming from Eldon…not that we’d ever want to! This week, we welcomed guests Lance Parker Sanning AKA Slow D.K., who dropped in with friends William May of William May’s Rock ‘n Roll page on Facebook, William’s lady love, Kimmie Giese and budding radio announcer, Craig Michael Ryan.

The last time William and Kimmie were in the studio with David Wood, another awesome musician from the Eldon area, it was in spite of various setbacks: William and David broke down 9 times on the way to Rolla and Kimmie had to work and didn’t get to the station until the show was almost over. Luckily, they didn’t encounter the same challenges during this visit. No breakdowns and Kimmie didn’t have to work, so everybody got to the show in plenty of time to relax before the BIG INTERVIEW when we got to find out how Lance came up with Slow D.K. for his band name. Like all band name stories, this one proved to be eye-opening and pretty humorous. Make sure you listen to the interview to hear it for yourself.

While he was in the studio, Lance, as Slow D.K., performed several covers and an original tune for our entertainment and were we ever entertained!

We also played several songs from first time Basement Tapes bands:

  • Mudshov3l from Scott City, MO
  • RedBics from Rolla (thanks to Nathan Weaver from Blue Solace for turning us on to these guys)
  • Precipitious Ridge with bass player, Steve Hughes, from the old Mack’s Creek band

Our listeners also heard songs from previous Basement Tapes guests, David Winn of the Crucifixion Machine and the Franklin Street Band from Salem. A big thumbs up to David for providing techno to singer/guitarist Larry Thomason.

As always, we want to thank everyone who listens and everyone who shares their music with us on the Basement Tapes.  If you run across an unsigned band or musician who deserves some recognition, let us know and if you’re a band or musician who just hasn’t found the right promotional opportunity, join the Basement Tapes family on Facebook. We promise to put your music out there for our listeners to enjoy!

Clockwise: Bootsy, Nick, Craig, Lance, William and Kimmie
