When William May decided to create William May’s Rock ‘n Roll Page on Facebook specifically to post his rock ‘n roll quotes and music from the bands he was discovering, he probably had no clue it would grow in only a few months to become a repository of band interviews, music, performance dates, and musicians interacting with musicians and would have over 600 fans from across the world! William’s page and the Basement Tapes page crossed paths after we did an interview on the air with the guys from Under Red. William is also from Eldon and a big Under Red fan, too. He even went to school with Jason Glaze, the lead singer.
On tonight’s show, we talked to William and his friend, David Wood, a very talented singer/songwriter who is also from the Lake of the Ozarks region. After having car problems that caused them to breakdown not less than 9 times between Eldon and Rolla, they finally got here just as the show was starting. Now, that’s what we call determination! William like to say, “Where’s there’s a William, there’s a way,” and he certainly proved that on May 22, 2011. Proving that better late than never really is true, William’s lady love, Kimmie Giese was able to join us in time to hear David’s live version of his dad’s tune, Lincoln County Jail.
We encourage all of our listeners and anyone with a love for rock ‘n roll who discovers us online to visit William May’s Rock ‘n Roll page on Facebook and check out the band interviews he’s been posting. The nice thing about Facebook is that page fans can participate in the conversation along with William and the band he’s interviewing. It’s always great to meet a like-minded music lover who takes the time and makes the effort to promote bands and musicians who often don’t get the opportunity to get their music out to the general public. Besides some great acoustic music live in the studio from David, we played songs for other bands that William has introduced us to through his page on Facebook:
- Eclipse the Apocalypse
- Heroes and Hypocrites
- Hollow Point Heroes
- Isaac James Band
If you missed the show, or if you live outside the KKID listening area, you can hear William and David’s interview on this site, so put on your headphones, sit back and get to know these guys. You’ll be glad you did!
